Once you have made the decision to sell your condominium you need to get it ready to sell. The first step you need to do is get yourself in the mindset of a buyer. You want your condominium in the best condition possible for the sale – to a buyer perception is reality. A good strategy is to think of your home as a commodity and try to separate yourself emotionally from your condominium.
Bringing in a neutral party – such as an agent is a good idea at this point. A good agent knows what buyers want and should be able to give you advice on how to prepare your property for sale. If you need more detail or help, contact a Ripco Real Estate office and let our condo specialist help sell your condominium fast
The below suggestions will help you prepare your condominium for sale.
Clean: Give your place a good cleaning from top to bottom – touch everything. Make sure you get rid of any pet or smoke odors. If you don’t feel like doing it yourself, hire a cleaning service.
Paint: There are only two types of color you should have in your condominium at the time of sale – white or beige. Remember you are no longer painting for yourself – buyers have a more positive reaction to neutral colors.
Fix: Make sure everything works properly – replace burnt our light bulbs, ensure toilets flush, and windows and doors open and shut smoothly. All heating, air conditioning, and other home systems should be in good condition
Declutter: Put all of your personal belongings away – counter and desktops should be clean, patios should be junk free. It helps if you put some of your items in storage or throw them away. This is a great opportunity to get rid of many of the things you do not need and no longer use.
Stage: After you've done the basics, make cosmetic improvements such as adding in flower arrangements and rearranging the furniture.
